Castlevania on the NES
September 22, 2020One of the most classic horror themed games in existence is Castlevania on the NES. The Castlevania series is one of Konami’s most well known franchises, with games spanning all the way from the 8-bit era all the way to present day. In the above video, I am attempting to make my way through Dracula’s castle as smoothly as I possibly can.
Originally released in 1986 for the Famicom Disk System in Japan, Castlevania was the debut of the legendary vampire killer, Simon Belmont. It would eventually see a release in North America in 1988. On his journey through the game, he will meet many different horror movie monsters, ranging from skeletons, demon dogs, giant bats, Medusa, mummies, even Frankenstein’s monster, before they face off with Dracula’s many forms at the end of the game. With 18 different platforming levels to traverse, gamers can sink hours into this classic game. Controls and visuals both do a good job and the excellent music that still defines the franchise to this day.
