Karate Champ on the NES
July 24, 2018Karate Champ for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) is a port of a classic arcade game from developer Technos Japan and published by Data East. It made it’s appearance in North America in 1986, timed nearly perfectly in the midst of the hype surrounding the Karate Kid movies.
You take control of one of the karate fighters fighting on a two dimensional arena. The various moves are executed via pressing different directions on the d-pad in combination with the A or B button. The bouts are a ‘best of 3’ format. A bonus stage is between each fight, where the player had to dodge flying objects.
