New Pocky & Rocky game for the Switch
September 9, 2020It’s nice in 2020 when we can get some unexpected news that is in the form of a revival of a great 16-bit series. In this case, we just found that that publisher Taito and developer Natsume Atari have announced a new game in the Pocky & Rocky series set to land on the Nintendo Switch.
If you have never played the Pocky & Rocky games on the Super Nintendo, you have been missing out on some true gems in that system’s library. The games featured bright and colorful sprite work paired with a fun top down style of gameplay. Roll in the fact that you can play two player co-op, you ended up with a sweet game package that was very fun to play.
In Japan, this series on the Super Famicom was known as KiKi KaiKai: Nazo no Kuro Mantle, which is a tough one to say outloud. The franchise was based off a 1986 arcade game. The series had 2 games released, the last being released in 1994.
