The US version of Diddy Kong Racing contains an inaccessible Japanese language setting in the files. If the code is modified to activate it, it is revealed that all it does is replace text with the word "Japanese" in English. pic.twitter.com/UyGr4UPF2z

If Tubba Blubba catches Mario while chasing him in Paper Mario, Mario is supposed to flee. However, using Bow's Outta Sight move will confuse Tubba Blubba, making him leave the battle. An even more obscure interaction is that rubbing Repel Gel on Mario achieves the same effect. pic.twitter.com/XekSRx8dwH

The Village Leader's Friend is a minor Yoshi NPC in Paper Mario. In-game, he always hides his hands. However, unused sprites of him showing his hands exist, revealing that he shares friendship bracelets with the Village Leader. pic.twitter.com/kxeDYTqbeh

On the switch version of Majora's Mask, there is lag intentionally added to the Giant's Cutscene (from frames 1120 to 1616).
This is to simulate N64 lag, and fix an issue where VC and other emus finish the cutscene before the song ends.In a speedrun context, this loses 8 sec pic.twitter.com/wVvMBkc6Nm

Super Mario 64 contains unused code for throwing MIPS the rabbit, including a unique animation of him falling onto the floor and getting back up. In the finished version of the game, this was replaced by Mario carefully setting MIPS down instead of throwing him. pic.twitter.com/1ezhgvrtRm

The secret alcove in Whomp's Fortress containing a 1-Up Mushroom is one of the best-hidden secrets in Super Mario 64. Development files show that the alcove was meant to contain a Power Star at some point, which would have been extremely hard to find if it was kept in. pic.twitter.com/301JmevZPE

Development data for Super Mario 64 contains an early version of MIPS the rabbit, which was colored pink. Unlike the finished game's MIPS, this version had the uncanny-looking ability to turn its head backwards 180 degrees, similar to an owl, to see Mario approaching from behind. pic.twitter.com/4m4BWi6b09
