Play SNES Classic Edition on your Switch

Ok, it isn’t official yet, but one brave hacker out there has gotten the SNES Classic Edition software to run on his hacked Nintendo Switch.  Although, the games aren’t functioning yet, it introduces a lot of thoughts. First and foremost, if an industrious person like this can get this far – it makes you wonder if Nintendo has any plans to just sell a “software” version of the NES and SNES Classic Editions for the Switch.  For the correct price, it could be a great alternative to getting all these titles into the living room.  Of course, Nintendo has announced a plan to have a subscription service that includes many “classic” titles found on the NES Classic Edition, but who knows. Many people may be willing to pay for it.

And less of a question, more of a statement… this is so cool! Sure, the performance is not great yet.  But if you read the video details, it sounds like the guy has a plan to improve that. I am not real clear on the process to hacking a Switch, but I assume it isn’t for the faint of heart.  I am also guessing it limits other features of the Switch and like other past Nintendo hacks, I am guessing running updates will kill it.  But, I could be wrong… I have been before.
