Sega OutRun Mini Retrospective

One of the most iconic racing games of all time is OutRun from Sega. Starting out as an arcade game, OutRun was also ported to a variety of systems.The most notable and well known is probably the Sega Genesis (Mega Drive) version for it’s ‘almost’ arcade perfect transition.

Clearly ahead of it’s time with the Yu Suzuki’s Super Scaler technology, this game first wowed fans in the arcade with it’s bright and fast moving graphics. It defined a genre of video games, 3D sprite based racing games in an era when 3D wasn’t more than a limited gimmick in most games.
