Ys V “Foresta Village” | Chiptune Favorites

The Ys franchise has often played second fiddle to many of the other RPG franchises through out video game history. That said, the games do feature some amazing music. One of great note is Ys V on the Super Famicom (later released again on PS2). Many of the tracks from this game sound similar in quality and feeling to what you might find in a game like Chrono Trigger.

The first Ys game to be released was back in 1987 with “Ys: The Vanished Omens”. This title made it’s debut on numerous systems, including the Famicom, Master System and the MSX2. Since then, the franchise has had a total of 16 games released. The most recent was “Ys IX: Monstrum Nox” in 2019 with a release on Playstation 4, Microsoft Windows and the Nintendo Switch.
